How do we design for empathy? How do we activate political consciousness through games? Can a focus on personal story bring us closer to political awareness?

Personal narrative is used as a powerful tool for communicating political need. By using live action roleplay as a platform to explore complex socio-political issues we create the conditions for a diversity of perspective through experiential learning. Using specific examples of live action roleplay games, this talk will outline how players gain an understanding and empathy to a believable other, what they can take with them from the game and what they can bring into the real world.
